Leicester City 2 Manchester United 2 – King Power stadium
Manchester United were denied the opportunity to move up to the second place by an Alex Tuanzebe own-goal late in the game against home side Leicester City at the King Power stadium on Saturday.
The match began with Marcus Rashford squandering a golden chance to put the visitors ahead in the first minute when he headed a cross from Bruno Fernandes over from point-blank range.
There was frantic action at both ends as the Foxes surged down the flank a minute later with James Justin firing in a defense-splitting cross for Jamie Vardy but Victor Lindelof was able to avert the danger to the United goal in the nick of time.
Rashford made amends for his early miss when he got on the end of a Fernandes pass to slide in for the opener in the 23rd minute. Brendan Rodgers' men gained most of the possession after that and found the equalizer when Fernandes gave away a ball a bit too easily at the edge of the his own box.
James Maddison duly fed the loose ball to Harvey Barnes who squeezed in a fierce left-footed past United defenders to beat David De Gea all ends up. 1-1 in the 31st minute. The game went into the break on even terms with both teams looking dangerous in counter-attacks but there was little threat to either goals after the equalizer.
The Red Devils began well after the interval as Kasper Schmeichel pulled off a spectacular reflex save from a one-on-one situation with Rashford.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer then brought in Paul Pogba and Edinson Cavani to break the deadlock and it was a superb through pass from the latter that released Fernandes who slot one in to the far post to put United ahead in the 78th minute.
Rodgers introduced Ayoze Perez with only 9 minutes left and that had the desired effect. The Foxes who looked on course to their fifth home defeat saw Perez breaking the offside trap to toe-poke a pass to a waiting Vardy inside the box. The Leicester talisman executed a first-time finish that brushed a leg of Tuanzebe to find the back of the net. 2-2 in the 85th minute.
